On 16 March 2018 Committee for Development policy (CDP) made an announcement in their triennial meeting about Bangladesh graduation from LDC (least Developed Country). First time Bangladesh has scored well above minimum threshold of the three criteria set by UNCDP. Three criteria are as follows
1. gross national income (GNI)
2. Human Asset index (HAI)
3. Economical Vulnerability
Bangladesh GNI was (2014, 2015, 2016) 1274 US dollar which was more than the minimum threshold GNI 1230 US dollar. Its HAI score was 73.2 which was above the required threshold 66 for graduation. Its economical vulnerability score was 25.2 which also fulfill the required score (32 or below)
Next six year Bangladesh will be Observed by UNCTAD ( United Nation Conference on trade And Development ) and DESA ( Department of Economical and Social Affair ). Bangladesh will observed till 2024.
In 2024 CDP recommendation to ECOSOC ( Economical and Social Council ) about Bangladesh final graduation will be sent for endorsement to UN assembly
